Silver

Each of her three interviewers wore a gray suit. No, silver, Truly noted, as the four of them exchanged pleasantries.

Truly spoke in a measured, yet authentically congenial manner about the ups and downs of her graduate program, the highs and lows of the internship she completed during the past summer, and the creativity she brought to her consulting projects.

But she could not let go of the sartorial choices of the women seated around her, as the few press photos of the company’s dealings also showed the members in silver suits. Not necessarily the same style, fabric, skirt or pant length, not even the same tone. Ranging from crispy charcoal to pale platinum, but never black or white, with a regal glow woven into the threads, a shade of gray was the subtle uniform of her potential employer.

Currently wearing the blue pinstripe ensemble gifted to her by her husband Jean, Truly wondered if they would consider houndstooth an acceptable pattern.
