Talented Tuesdays: Andrea Lewis

It's Talented Tuesday! Each week, For Nerdy Girls features a digital innovator who inspires colorful women around the world. These are individuals who should be celebrated on a global level, so we'll start by talking about these changemakers right here.

Name: Andrea Lewis

Twitter: @JungleWildTV

Website: missandrealewis.com

What she does: Andrea is an actress, singer, writer, and producer. Also, she was Hazel/one of the only black people on Degrassi. So cool!

Why she's inspiring: Andrea created and stars in Black Actress, a mockumentary web series about a woman trying to succeed as a performer in the entertainment industry.

Each episode ends with a real life interview from a working black actress (™ W. Kamau Bell) who is still in the struggle. Life and art in one illuminating package. Superb.

There are also a bunch of Black Actress extras I still need to watch, including a roundtable on The State of Black TV, so I should get on that.

Talented Tuesdays: Jeannie Mai

It's Talented Tuesday! Each week, For Nerdy Girls features a digital innovator who inspires colorful women around the world. These are individuals who should be celebrated on a global level, so we'll start by talking about these changemakers right here.

Name: Jeannie Mai

Twitter: @jeanniemai

Website: thejeanniemai.com

What she does: Jeannie is a television correspondent and a co-host of The Real on FOX.

Why she's inspiring: I have <3ed Jeannie since I watched her show How Do I Look? a decade ago (has it been that long for reals?) on the now-defunct Style Network (RIPD). Then I saw her speak at an APEX conference about how awesome it is to be yourself, especially when all the other people around you wish you'd be someone else.

In addition to motivating and empowering women with her four fellow diverse co-hosts on The Real, Jeannie inspires her community through her social media platforms encouraging "Wearapy. Use the way you look to change the way you feel. Power from the outside in."

(That's a rhetorical question. Answer: the coolest.)
