You’re thankful for your yams?” Noa squinted at Antonio, who was arranging dishes in the villa’s kitchen.

Seated next to Noa at the table set for four adults and two toddlers, Sasha ate a green bean from the casserole. “What about your family, i.e., the people in this room?”

“Those truths are self-evident,” Antonio retorted.

“To whom?” Sasha challenged her husband.

“Furthermore,” Antonio cradled his aluminum pan, “my yams are covered with marshmallows. Are you?”

“I bought you those marshmallows,” Morrow reminded.

“And I could cover you with them later,” Noa offered.

Sasha held an uncooked yam. “Where’s this going?”
