SASHA, MORROW, AND THE BEST WORDS

“What do we tell them?”

Sunday, July 05, 2015

“How we feel about each other.”

“How do you feel?” Sasha asked from the chaise lounge bolted to the sleeper cabin.

Seated next to her, Morrow responded, “how do you?”

“You first.”

“Same time. One, two, three.”

“I like you.”

“I love you,” Morrow proclaimed simultaneously.

Sasha’s mood shifted from uneasy to honored.

“I want to retract my statement.” Morrow looked out the window.

The locomotive whizzed through the tunnel.

“I’m not there yet. But I will be,” she promised.

“You seem certain.”

“I trust my gut.”

Morrow poked his stomach. “My gut’s been on vacation.”
